Surrounded by his loving family, John passed away peacefully on March 8, 2012.

John retired as a welder from Hercules in 1989. He was a life member of Pulaski Legion and SAL Post 28.

Family was very important to John and he loved spending as much time as he could with them, especially summers spent at the beach house in Sussex County. John loved boating, crabbing, and fishing, going on annual fishing trips with the Flounder Pounders, and fishing trips to the Outer Banks.

He was the son of the late John and Stefania Zielinski. He also was preceded in death by his oldest son, John Zielinski, Jr. ; and sisters, Sophie Zielinski, Florence Kosakowski, Cecilia Kramarck, and Evelyn Rooney.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa (Dziegielewski) Zielinski. He is also survived by his son, Leonard (Denise); four granddaughters, Julie Queen ( Jimmy), JoAnna Santos (Tito), Katie and Samantha Zielinski; five great grandchildren, Jordyn, Roman, Juliana, Elijah, and James Chase; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and sisters, Irene Zulinski, Helen Truscienski, Dolores Duricek (Charles), and Eleanore Kempczynski (Anthony).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hedwig’s R. C. Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 6-8 pm. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
