Bert Owens

Age 83, passed away at Kent General Hospital, January 24, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Bert was born in Taylor, PA on July 25, 1929 to the late Bert and Margaret Owens.

Bert was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He served as a Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Infantry Division. He retired from the G.M. Boxwood Road Assembly Plant after 40 years of service.

The enjoyment he received in life was spending time with his family and friends, taking road trips and vacations. His family received their joy by just being with him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy A. Owens; a dear daughter-in-law, Michelle Owens (Faville); 2 brothers, Gene and Harold Owens; and a sister, Betty Sitar. He is survived by his six children and their families, Keith Owens of Wilmington, Karyn Gabbert of Wichita, KS, Kathy and Steve Wdzieczkowski of Bear, Kimberly and William Stubbs of Dover, Kyle Owens, and Keri Owens both of Elsmere; 1 brother, Jack Owens; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Tuesday evening, January 29, 2013 at 7 pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-7 pm Tuesday evening. Interment is private.
