Kathleen Georgine Lyons Allston

Age 78, passed away on August 27, 2013. Kathleen was born September 15, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Mary Veronica and John Lyons.


She graduated from West Catholics Girls High School in Philadelphia and worked as a receptionist for several years. She was first a full time Mom and a loving wife. Kathleen especially enjoyed traveling throughout the States which included Alaska and Hawaii, and several trips to England and Europe where she was thrilled to see Pope John Paul II. She loved her summers in Ocean City, MD surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen loved to prepare sumptuous birthday parties for her children and husband making each a very special event. She loved all of her friends especially those she made in Myrtle Beach, SC while spending eighteen years in retirement. Kathleen will be sorely missed by all who loved her.


Kathleen was preceded in death by her son, David Fitzgerald, and her brother, Thomas Lyons. She is survived by her husband, Norbert Allston of Philadelphia, whom she met when she was seventeen years old and married him at age 24 while he was in the Army. She is survived by her four beautiful children, Mark Patrick, Paul David, Mary Kathryn Rhoades, and Peter Norbert; her five grandchildren, Katie Elizabeth Allston, Ian Stevens Allston, Sean David Puzewski, Taylor Ann Allston, and Erin Fitzgerald Allston; her brother, David Lyons of Racine, WI; her sisters, Joan Fitzpatrick of Marlton, NJ, Patricia Kelly of Philadelphia, PA, and Eileen Sidorsky of Garnett Valley, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary R. C. Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11 am. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 am Tuesday morning. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
