Obituary for Julia E. Tritelli

Julia went home to God the Father on February 3, 2015, where she was received by Jesus and his Blessed Mother. She was born on December 16, 1920 to Filippo and Pasquetta (Zilla) Gambacorta. She was retired from the Colonial School District, having worked for twenty years in the cafeteria at New Castle Junior School. She was the consummate homemaker and loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in New Castle. At St. Peter’s, she was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the Blue Army. She continued to attend Mass every month with the Sodality into her nineties. She was a member of the choir for many years. Before her illness, she faithfully attended the recitation of the rosary and benediction every Tuesday evening and the Divine Mercy chaplet every Friday afternoon. She never failed to say her numerous prayers and a rosary every morning and evening. She performed her daily chores quietly and without complaint.
Julia enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. For years, she baked and decorated a cake that was raffled at the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality annual Palm Sunday bake sale.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, James J. Tritelli, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest Gamgort, James Gamgort, Sr., Alexander Gambacorta, and John Gambacorta, and her sisters, Mary Pacinelli, Lena Gambacorta, and Pauline Snyder. She is survived by her sister, Rose George, her sons, Thomas and James, Jr., her daughter-in-law, Sharon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Ms. Robin Ventura for the daily care she provided Julia throughout many months and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care for her final, acute care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Fifth and Harmony Streets, New Castle, Delaware, on Saturday, Feb 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The viewing will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Julia’s memory to Saint Martin’s Ministries, P.O. Box 996, Ridgely, MD 21660.
