Carol J. Kalafut
Age 73 of Wilmington
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.
Carol was born in Minneapolis, MN to the late Stanley and Helen(Henry)Johnson. She moved to Delaware in her 20’s to start her life long career in the banking industry. She began her work at PNC Bank and after 35 years of dedicated service, retired as a branch manager. After her brief retirement, Carol rejoined the workforce as a small business loan officer at WSFS bank for 10 years.
Carol led a quiet life and enjoyed the little things. She always greatly treasured the time spent with family in her backyard pool, trips to Delaware Park, and traveling with her husband, Mike.
Carol will be dearly missed by all those who knew her, especially her husband, Michael J. Kalafut; step sons, David J. (Maura), Mark T. (Missy) and Michael L.; her 8 grandchildren and great granddaughter. Carol is also survived by her sister, Diane Kamletz; brother, Kurt Johnson; niece, Debbie Reicher; and nephew, Kevin Kamletz, all of Minneapolis, MN.
Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wednesday, April 8 from 6:00-8:00pm and are invited to stay for a service for Carol at 8:00pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made in Carol’s name to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19713.
