Obituary for Richard Howard "Richie" Emery Sr.

Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 22, 2015.
Richie was born on July 6, 1934 to the late Howard and Adele Emery.
He faithfully served in United States Army as a cook for 3 years. On May 4, 1963 Richie married his honeybee, Shirley. Together they lived in Wilmington and raised 3 children. He retired from Del Steel, after many years of dedicated service. Richie was an avid Phillies, Eagles, Steelers fan. He was a true outdoors man that greatly enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He could always be found enjoying his garden or hosting a cookout, but most of all Richie loved just spending time together with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Emery in 2009.
Left to cherish Richie’s memory, are his children, Jackie Hart (Bob), Richard H. Emery, Jr. (Gwen), and John Richard Emery (Kim); his 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty, Harriett (Chuck), Peggy (Jerry), and Patty (Bill); his niece and caretaker, Nancy Saienni; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Richie at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720, on Thursday, May 28, at 11:00am. Friends may call at the chapel from 10:00-11:00am. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
