Obituary for Kathryn M. Garniewski (Mancari)

Kathryn Mancari Garniewski
Age 62 of Wilmington
Passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, January 17, 2016. She was born Kathryn Elizabeth Mancari on February 6, 1953 and was raised in New Castle, DE. Kathryn was the daughter of Louis N. Mancari and the late Jean F. Mancari. She was a loving wife to Jack Garniewski and caring mother to their son, John Paul.
Kathryn graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1971 and earned a degree in Business Administration from Penn State University in 1982.
Kathryn and her husband Jack were married in 1977 and lived in Tulsa, OK from 1981 - 1984, where their son, John Paul, was born. They returned to Wilmington, DE in 1984. She was president of St Edmunds Women’s Guild and served on the Board.
Kathryn loved entertaining and cooking for her family and friends and enjoyed relaxing at home in her beautiful gardens. She truly loved hosting family during the holidays and opening up and sharing her home.
Her creative spirit ranged from gourmet cooking, entertaining, garden parties and decorating her home for all of the holidays. She had a flair for presentation. Kathryn also loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland and Italy.
She enjoyed the theater and played Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady in her High School play.
Kathryn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Cooch’s Bridge Chapter
She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband, Jack; her son, John Paul; her father, Louis; her sister; Jeanette Payton of Columbia, SC; her brothers, Louis of Lynchburg, VA, James of Smyrna, DE, and Francis of Middletown, DE and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 5th & Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720, on Thursday, Jan 21 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, Jan 21 from 9:00-11:00am. Interment will be in St. Peter the Apostle Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations be made in Kathryn’s memory to the American Diabetes Association 100 W. 10th St. Suite 1002, Wilmington DE 19801.
