Obituary for John Joseph Nolan Jr.
Age 84 of New Castle
Passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016
John was born the son of the late John J. Sr. and Catherine (Butherbaugh) Nolan in New Castle, DE where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a devoted employee of Brosius Eliason for 43 years retiring in 1998. John and his wife, Mary Anne delivered the News Journal to the residents of New Castle for over 25 years. John served as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in New Castle.
John enjoyed traveling and loved his family more than anything.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, James, and David Nolan.
John will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Mary Anne (Patterson) Nolan; his sons, John J. Nolan III (Donna), and Jason E. Nolan; and his grandchildren, John J. Nolan IV and Kimberly N. Nolan. He is also survived by his brothers, William (Theresa) and Thomas Nolan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service for John at First Baptist Church, 901 E. Basin Rd., New Castle, DE 19720, on Friday, August 19 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-11:00am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions in John’s name to a charity of your choosing.
