Obituary for Albert Joseph Vannucci Jr.

Albert Joseph Vannucci, Jr. passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 peacefully at home.

Mr. Vannucci was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Albert J. “Brownie” Vannucci, Sr. and Florence Antoinette Vannucci on July 19, 1951. He graduated from William Penn High School. After high school, we went on to work for Chrysler and retired in 2001.

He lived in the city of Old New Castle his entire life and along with his father he was very active and well known in his community. He was a member of the City Council and served multiple terms. He was also Vice President of the St. Anthony’s Club of Old New Castle.

Albert’s family and friends meant everything to him. He was a very loving father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He had countless friends who he loved dearly. He would do anything for anyone and it brought so much joy to Albert to lend a helping hand to others.

Mr. Vannucci was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Pasquale Vannucci. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie Hendrickson and her husband, Andy Lee Hendrickson of Old New Castle; his son, Albert Joseph Vannucci III and his wife, Christina Marie Vannucci of Wilmington; and 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Nick, and his peanut, Giada. He loved his grandchildren more than life itself and spoke of them to everyone. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Vicky Ann Bryson of Wilmington; his aunt, Nancy D. DiAngelo of Old New Castle, who was like his second mom; and his sister-in-law, Yvonne Vannucci, who was very dear to him.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 31, at 12:00 noon at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 5th and Harmony Streets, New Castle. A viewing will take place at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Interment will be private at Cathedral Cemetery.
