Obituary for Phyllis B Woodward (LeKates)

Phyllis B Woodward (LeKates)
Phyllis Barbara Woodward, 84, passed away on November 28, 2016 at Brackenville Center in Hockessin. Born in Wilmington to the late Blanche and George LeKates, Phyllis grew up in Richardson Park and was a proud graduate of Conrad High School, class of 1950. She met her late husband, Charles F. Woodward Jr. at Conrad and they shared 64 years of marriage together, most years in their current home in Rosemont.
Phyllis was a lifetime member of Cranston Heights Ladies Auxiliary, past Guardian of Jobs Daughters #2 and lifetime member of Eastern Star Five Points Chapter 13. After raising her children, she returned to work at Hercules until her retirement in 1994.
Gone are the Sunday dinners she prepared for family and friends on a weekly basis, making delicious Christmas cookies that she loved sharing with all of her children and grandchildren and, most importantly, her presence at her grandchildren’s sporting events throughout the years. She cherished her role as mom-mom and nana and always looked forward to her reunion lunches with her former classmates at Conrad High.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 2014 and her daughter, Barbara Ann. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ann McNesby (Jerry), Lynda L. Woodward (Sandy) and Cynthia Lee Parisi (Tom); son Charles F. Woodward III (Cheryl); grandchildren, Kristen, Michael, Jennifer, Melissa and Charles IV; and great grandchildren Kaelyn, Makenzie and Caleb.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Brackenville Center for their time and attention to our mother’s care. Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from10:00 am to 11:00 am at Gracelawn Memorial Chapel with a service immediately following. Graveside services will be private.
