Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 6, 2017
Paul was born in 1939 in Carlisle, PA to the late Fred and Sarah (Warner) Callahan. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1956. Paul had multiple jobs (the Railroad, Chrysler, working in Gloucester, NJ lighthouses, and Hy-Point Dairy) before being hired by DuPont, to work in the Experimental Station. He retired from DuPont in 1997, after 31 years of service.
Paul married the love of his life, Lucy (Gravino) in 1959. They built a home together in Oak Hill where he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing pinochle and cards on the porch, listening to Neil Diamond and working on the pool. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons. Back in the day he was a coach in Suburban Little League, a current member of the New Castle County Irish Society, an officer of the Notre Dame Club of Mulrooney’s and a member of St. Anthony’s Church where he volunteered at the Italian Festival for the past 18 years.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his brothers, William, Donald and James; a sister, Anna Mary; and a brother-in-law, Frank Sianni
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucy; his daughter, Christine (Adam) Borowski; and his three precious grandsons, Eddie, Joe, and Danny. He is also survived by his loving sister, Patricia Sianni.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 901 N Dupont St, Wilmington, DE 19805, on Saturday, January 14 at 12:00 noon.
Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805 on Saturday from 9:30-11:30
