Obituary for William L "Chief" Maichle
William L. “Chief” Maichle
Age 70, passed away at home on Monday, March 20, 2017.
Billy was born and raised in Elsmere. He was the son of William J. and Ruth E. Maichle. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a firefighter. He was appointed in April 1968 and retired in May, 1993 after reaching the rank of Deputy Chief. He also volunteered at Elsmere Fire Company during his service on Wilmington Fire Dept. and through his retirement, serving as President for several years.
Billy is survived by his sons, William R. (Angela), Kristopher J. (Nicole), Jeffrey H. (Sarah), and Harrison R. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kamryn, Emilia, and Charlotte; and his sister, Janine M. (Dain).
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 905 New Road, Elsmere. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will take place in All Saints Cemetery.
