Age 80 of Elsmere
Mary passed away at the age of 80 on April 9, 2017 at home. Mary was born in Philadelphia on March 5, 1937, daughter of the late Dante and Marian D'Ortona. Mary was not just a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin or friend. She was everyone's best friend because that's how she made you feel. She loved cooking, there isn't another around who could come close to her meatballs! Mary enjoyed watching game shows, Elvis, and had a love/hate relationship with the Phillies. But most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family whom she loved unconditional. She was our angel on earth and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; her sisters, Dolly and Donna; her, brothers Johnny and Dante; her grandsons, Josh and Shawn; her nephews, John and Billy, and niece, Danielle.
She is survived by her son, Vincent Marra; her daughters, Diane DiPilla (Felice) and Rose Peters (Mike); 7 grandchildren, Karli, Nicole, Dominic (Ashley), Christina, Fabiana, Jessica, and Jacklyn; her great grandson, Ayden; her brother-in-law John Mili, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Mary at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 9th and DuPont St., Wilmington, Tuesday, April 18 from 9:30-11:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Mary's name to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Dr, Newark, DE 19713.
