Age 74 of Wilmington
Passed from this life April 17, 2017 while resting peacefully at home with his loving wife, Eadie, by his side.
Known as Bob to friends and GrandBob to his family, he was born in Whitman, MA to the late Albert and Martha Churchill on July 16, 1942. Bob joined the US Navy immediately after high school, proudly serving on the USS Intrepid before moving to Wilmington, DE. In 1972 Bob began his favorite job working for AIG/ALICO. He was a dedicated employee for 32 years retiring in 2004. His work took him all over the world, and wherever he traveled, he formed lasting friendships that endure to this day.
Bob was a resident of Wilmington for many years however in recent years, he enjoyed spending time at his family retreat on Lake Hauto. There he could sit and enjoy the view for countless hours. Bob was a great lover of all sports, playing softball, bowling, and was a bit of a pool shark. He passionately supported the New England sports teams of his hometown, and the Philadelphia sports teams of his home. A kind and generous man, Bob welcomed everyone into his home and thoroughly enjoyed the family of both blood and heart; which included several international children he supported through Child Fund and his beloved Karen and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Eadie Churchill; stepdaughter, Natalie Kidd of Philadelphia; stepson, Robert Kidd and his wife, Dani; granddaughters, Alexandra and Charlotte Kidd of Wilmington, Karen Turse and her husband, Christian; great grandsons, Andrew, his Godson, Matthew, and Ryan Turse of West Chester. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Churchill (Rose) of VT., Albert of DE; step brothers, Ray, Paul, David (Doreen) and Louie (Brenda) Churchill of MA. Also dear to his heart is his nephew, Albie Churchill; nieces, Heather Hill (Steve), and Nicole Churchill of DE, and Victoria Churchill, GA; as well as nieces and nephews by marriage, several great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Bob at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W 13th St, Wilm., DE 19806, on Saturday, April 22, at 11:00am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805 on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm. Interment will be private.
