Obituary for William T. "Bill" Allston

William T. "Bill" Allston

Passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the County House.

Bill was born on June 3, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Mary Veronica and Henry Allston. He was a vocalist who recorded several records, sang on WCAU (PHL), many places in the area and Palm Beach, FL. He owned several cocktail lounges in Florida. He moved to Florida in the fifties and never looked back. He was a true "entrepreneur". He was famous for his photo of a "horse having a beer", which was featured on the Johnny Carson Show. He never married but led a full life. He served in Germany during the Korean War with the 2nd Armored Division.

Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret, and his brother, Harry. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Snyder, of Wilmington, and Helen Smith of Pennsylvania; his brother, Norbert, of Wilmington; his nieces, nephews, and their spouses, Mark and Sheryl Allston, and Paul and Valerie Allston, of Wilmington, Mary Kathryn and Tom Rhoades of Newark, DE, and Peter and Tina Allston of Myrtle Beach, SC; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph on the Brandywine R.C. Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE on Monday, May 1, at 9:00 am. Interment will take place at 11:00 am at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
