Obituary for Martha Cyr (Lagasse)

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017, with her loving family by her side.

Martha was born on April 19, 1929 in Van Buren, ME, to the late Raymond and Catherine Lagasse, where she grew up speaking French. She married the love of her life, Roy Cyr, on June 7, 1951. After their wedding, she moved to Delaware, where they raised their three children. They remained best friends for their 62 year marriage.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting family first. Her favorite thing in life was caring for and spending time with her family. She took great pride in her home and enjoyed feeding all who came to visit. Reading a good book on the porch her husband built for her was her favorite pastime. A woman of strong faith, she was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, and her sisters, Frances, Isabelle, Betty, and Dora. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda McMichael (Dave), Kathy Cornette (Jim Ellis), and Raymond Cyr (Fran); her grandchildren, David McMichael, Kimberly Boan (Colin Long), and Daniel Cyr (Shonna Broomer); her great-grandchildren, Dakota McMichael, Destiny McMichael, Shanya Cyr, and Austin Boan; and her brother, Jack Lagasse.

The family would like to thank the staff at Christiana Care and Seasons Hospice for their kind, compassionate care during Martha’s brief illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Road, Elsmere. A viewing will take place at the church on Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
