William P. "Windy" Windish II
Age 88 of Middletown
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Windy was a dedicated sheet metal worker for many years. He worked for both the I.D Griffith and E.J Deseta Companies and was a proud member of the Local Union 19. Windy was a life time member of Elsmere Fire Company with over 70 years of faithful service to his community and his brother and sister firefighters. Windy was a participant in the Drum and Bugle Corp of the American Legion Post #1 and was a parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Middletown.
Windy loved his community and gave of himself as a volunteer football coach. He was a avid University of Delaware Football fan and 30 year season ticket holder. Windy's favorite pastime was spending time with his family and enjoying old western movies.
He is preceded by his 3 siblings, Ellen, Katie and Howard.
Windy will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy "Dotti" Windish; his children, Sharon (David), Bill (Debbie), Beth (Preston), Steven, Michael (Patty), Robbie (Ann Marie), and Tony (Darlene); his 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Mary Parisan and Ann M. Schaeffer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere, DE on Saturday, June 17 at 10:00 am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, DE on Friday, Jun 16 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to the Elsmere Fire Co., 1107 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, DE 19805.
