Obituary for David Wayne Blevins

David Wayne  Blevins
Passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
Dave was born to Wiley O. Blevins, Sr. and Linda M. Blevins (nee Fagans) on March 21st 1970 in Wilmington, DE. He grew up in Elsmere, DE. and attended Wilmington High School, graduating in 1988. While in high school, Dave exceled in academics and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of the Red devils band and played the saxophone. Dave also played baseball, tennis, football and was a wrestler while at Wilmington HS. He also represented the Red Devils in the annual Blue Gold Game in 1988.
After high school, Dave attended University of Delaware before joining the Delaware Air National Guard. Dave was a crew chief in C-130 and took part in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Noble eagle, as well as multiple deployments. He attained rank of Technical Sergeant before being honorably discharged in August 2006. While serving in the Delaware Air National Guard he earned the following awards; Air force Achievement Medal with 1 Device, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device, Air Reserve Meritorious Service Award with 2 Devices, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Ribbon and Gold Border, Air force Overseas Ribbon Short Tour, Air Force Longevity Service Armed Forces
Reserve Medal with 1 Device, United States Air Force Training Ribbon.
An avid fisherman, Dave enjoyed traveling and fishing whenever her could. He loved watching the University of Delaware Fighting Blue Hens football and the Philadelphia Phillies. His presence at stadiums will surely be missed by all.
Dave’s real love in life was his daughters and his family. There was nothing he liked more than spending time with his daughters and siblings on weekends. He loved to cook for the family and friends
He last worked for Hypoint Dairy where he was a delivery driver who prided himself on the timeliness and quality of service of his deliveries. Dave was a gifted craftsman worked with his friend John Demanczyk remodeling homes.
Dave is preceded in death by his beloved father Wiley O. Blevins, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Linda Blevins; daughters, Cassidy and Raelyn Blevins; brother, Lieutenant Colonel Wiley O. Blevins, Jr.; sister and best buddy, Gwen Blevins; he is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Elaine Culpepper; along with several nieces and nephews; and countless friends
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy. Wilmington, DE 19805, on Saturday, October 14 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 12. David would ask that all of you continue to make America great again.
