Obituary for Raymond Leroy "Uncle Doug" Morrow

Raymond Leroy "Uncle Doug" Morrow
Raymond L. Morrow “Doug”, 96
Passed away peacefully on October 18, 2017. Doug was a graduate of Delaware City High School. He served with the 844th Army Engineers during WWII in the European Theater. He married Jacqueline (Pickhaver) Morrow in June of 1943 and they went on to have 74 wonderful years of marriage.
Doug retired from Allied Chemical after 37 years with the company. Following his retirement, he had two favorite hobbies, fishing and gardening. If you knew him, you would know that not a “single weed” lived in his garden. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends and he still told “fish tales” until the end stages of his illness.
He is preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Jackie. He is survived by his sister, Mary Rothrock, of Buena Vista, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to all of the employees at Arden Court. The entire staff referred to him as “uncle Doug” and he was truly loved and cared for by everyone. A word of thanks to Heartland Hospice who added comfort and dedicated service during his illness.
