Obituary for Robert D. (Pasquale) Bromwell

Passed away September 25, 2016.
Bob was born in Wilmington to the late Charles and Averla (Squires) Bromwell. He was a 1962 graduate of Brown Vocational School. Bob was a dedicated employee of Witco Chemical for many years, retiring in 1995. He began his second carrier as a bartender at Mulrooney’s Tavern in Elsmere and Connections Inc.
In 2002, he was awarded lifetime member of Five Points Fire Company after 26 years of faithful service and holding several officer positions. Bob was the president of Defiance AA for 13 years, and was made president emeritus this past year. He served for 31 years as an umpire with the Delaware amateur softball association and in 2000, Bob was inducted into the softball hall of fame. Bob committed himself to the youth of Delaware through his active involvement with the Boys and Girls Club, retiring in 2011 after over 40 years of service. Volunteering was Bob’s special way of giving. Through the years he received many honors and awards, most notably was when he was sent to Washington DC in 2002 to receive the Jefferson Award for outstanding community service.
He enjoyed golf, watching ID, and old westerns, and loved family gatherings at Jerry’s house.
He was preceded in death by his brother James Bromwell, and Barbara Dennis.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years Abbie (Hinton) Bromwell; his two daughters, Dawn Bromwell (Ace Murray) and Jennifer Stout; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sisters, Patricia Collins, Mildred Villermaux, Nancy Andrews (George), Ruth Deery (Joseph); and his brother John Bromwell. He is also survived by Jerry Arms and Donavon Stout.
Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, on Monday October 3rd from 10:00 am to 1:00pm. Service for Bob will be held immediately following the viewing. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Bob’s name to the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware, 669 S Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
