Samuel T  Wardell
Passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Sam was born to the late Joseph and Helen Wardell and raised in Wilmington on DuPont Street.
Sam attended St. Anthony of Padua grade school and graduated from Wilmington High School. He worked for DuPont for 40 years, and retired Computer Science Corporation at the age of 58.
Sam was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Anthony’s Club where he went everyday with his friends. He loved Philly sports and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but Sam’s most treasured time was spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Wardell.
Sam is survived by his wife of 36 years, Paula Wardell; children, Stephanie, Danielle, Jennifer and Brian; and four grandchildren; Ethan, Olivia, Madison, and Ava; sister, Pat Ryan (Joe); brother, Joe Wardell (Sue); many loving nieces, nephews and his extended family. As well as his dear friends, Dennis Dougherty and Rosario Messina.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at St Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 901 N. DuPont St, Wilmington, DE 19805 on Monday, October 31 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy Wilmington, DE 19805, on Sunday, October 30, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Sam’s name to Catholic Charities, 2601 West 4th St Wilmington DE 19805 or Attack Addiction PO Box 36, Bear, DE 19701.
