William S. (Bill) Pennell
AGE: 82 • Wilmington
Passed away suddenly on Friday, January 20, 2017
Bill was born on May 20, 1934 to the late William A and Mary (Sobocinski) Pennell.
He graduated from Wilmington High School and served in the National Guard of Delaware.
Bill worked for Wilmington Trust in the tax department for 47 years, and also at Brandywine Race Track in the money room for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for 45 years in the Blessed Sacrament Council, where he served as Grand Knight, a member of the 4th Degree, Father Capodanno Assembly, and State Deputy.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Elaine (Episcopo) Pennell, who passed away in 2008.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan and son-in-law Mark Liszkiewicz; grandchildren, Bridget, Billy, Julie, Rob, Rachel, and Ryan; and four great-grandchildren.
Bill was always full of stories and jokes, and loved to read books and do puzzles. He adored spending time with his family, and was very involved with all of the grandchildren's numerous sports and school events. Bill also enjoyed going to Delaware Park with his friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R. C. Church, 905 New Rd, Wilmington, DE, on Friday, January 27 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE, on Thursday, January 26 from 6:00 pm- to 8:00 pm. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808.
