Thomas A. Chew,
Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 6, 2017
Tom was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Walbert and Frances Chew. He attended Corpus Christi and Oak Grove elementary schools and was a graduate of Conrad High School in 1965. He went on to become a firefighter for the City of Wilmington Fire Dept. and retired after 22 years. Following his retirement he went to work for Fogarty Construction. Tom was also a lifetime member of the Elsmere Fire Co. and a member of the Defiance Athletic Association of Wilmington as well as the Pulaski Legion of Delaware.
Tom was a hardworking man. He adored animals, especially his cats.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Frances (Swarter) Chew; son, Christopher (Michele); and his sister, Joann Nickle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 905 New Road, Wilmington, DE 19805, on Saturday, August 12 at 10:30. Friends may call at the church from 9-10:30. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Dr. Wilmington, DE 19805.
